Van Dyck, Sir Anthony, the great Flemish painter,
was born in Antwerp 1599 and died in London 1641. He was
court painter to Charles I and amongst his masterpieces are
portraits of the King and members of the Royal Family. His
picture of Charles I is in the Dresden Gallery.
