SCENE IN DEERING PARK. Deering's Oaks Park, com-
prising 30 acres of primeval hardwood growth, and celebrated
in Longfellow's verse as "Deering's Woods", has its main
entrance on New State Street. Bridges span the ravines,
driveways circle through leafy bowers, and there is an
artificial pond with a fountain and boats.
