THE STRAND is one of London's best-known
thoroughfares. Recently it has undergone changes,
and new buildings have been erected. On the right of
the picture is the Charing Cross Hotel, standing over
the Railway termini. The Cross is a Victorian reproduction
of the last of the Eleanor Crosses, each representing
the stopping places of the Queen's funeral procession
survey, the Strand was discovered to be the noisiest
street in London.
