In this house, Aug. 14th, 1870, occurred the death
of Admiral David Glasgow Farragut. Sept. 5th,
1905, in the equipment Building, then just com-
pleted, the “Treaty of Portsmouth” ending the
Russo-Japanese War was signed by the Plenipoten-
tiaries of both powers."
