Description:

Cherokee Park, in the eastern section of the city, was acquired by the city in 1891, and takes its name from the tribe of Indians who formerly occupied the grounds; it contains 341 acres of gently rolling land cut into picturesque ravines by Beargrass Creek; these ravines are spanned by handsome, stone bridges, adding greatly to the scenic beauty of the park.
