Situated at the entrance to Pender Harbour, Irvines Landing
was the first settlement of the area. By the early 1850's Mr.
Irvine had established a trading post, was later bought out by
Mr. Gonzales, who built a hotel and store. Soon regular steamer
service started and the community of Pender Harbour began to
develop rapidly.
