| No. 3, Albany Historic Post Card Series. Here met the Albany Congress in 1754 at which Benjamin Franklin proposed a union of the colonies. The Declaration of Independence was read to the Albany citizenry from its steps July 19, 1776. It stood near the junction of present Hudson and Broadway at the Plaza. After a fire in 1836 it was pulled down. |
