The oldest house in Santa Fe stands across from
the Chapel of San Miguel, itself neerly three
centuries old, on the north side of Da Vargas
Street. The little 'dobe building is of Indian
construction and is believed to antedate the per-
manent settlement of Santa Fe by Europeans in
1609
