Additional Details:
Located in Linn County, six miles west of Mount Vernon, off U. S. Highway 30 and Primary Highway 261. Area, 648 acres. Great limestone cliffs, or palisades, from 30 to 75 feet in height, arise from the banks of the Cedar River. Deep gullies slope toward the river. Fringing the area are red cedars, American yew and ground hemlock. A low head dam retains the water at adequate level for fishing and boating, and there are ample picnic and parking areas. Group gatherings and evening social functions center here
