The Opossum, (Didelphys marsupialis.) The common Opossum is an American Marsupial or pouched mammal almost the size of a cat. It is arboreal in its habits, its long, naked, scaly and highly prehensile tail being of great assistance to it when climbing. Opossums are not particular as to their diet, for rabbits, fowls, fruit, insects and carrion all find favor with them. Many persons are exceedingly fond of the flesh of these animals. Which resembles that ofa young hog, only more delicate. It is strange, however, that a dog will starve sooner than eat the flesh of the Opossum."
