Series 2/250 Declared the world's first free airport in 1947, Shannon is famous among air travellers for its Duty Free Shop and Restaurant, open round-the clock. An Industrial and Warehousing Estate has been established on the perimiter of the Airport where goods can be manufactured or stored for distribution by air to world markets. Manufacturers and exporters using Shannon pay no import duties or bonding charges, and are exempt from profits tax until 1983. |
