Fernando Valenzuela, the phenomenon of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Mexican President Jose Lopez Portillo were guests at a White House luncheon. What a prodigious year for this young sportsman! He won a World Series victory; National League rookie of the year laurels; the Cy Young Award for the league's most outstanding pitcher – and – he married lovely Linda Margarita Buros, an elementary school teacher. Valenzuela, a cool rookie on the mound, perspired profusely throughout the marriage ceremony.
