Casa Grande, The Great House, is the only
watch tower-apartment house structure of its
particular type remaining from the ancient
civilizations that flourished in the Gila and
Salt River drainages of Southern Arizona. I
was probably built sometime between 1300
and 1350 A. D. and was abandoned about 100 27
years later. Other smaller and less impres-
sive ruins on the monument are older.
