National Naval Medical Center. One mile north of Bethesda, Maryland, near Washington, D. C. Commissioned in 1942 one of the finest institutions of its kind. It functions as a medical, dental, diagnostic, educational, and research center, and is composed of the following Commands and Units: U. S. Naval Hospital; U.S. Naval Medical School; U.S. Naval School of Hospital Administration; U.S. Navy Toxicology Unit; and the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute.
