Sterling fur and Game was owned by a world traveled wild game collector Joseph L. Sterling who was married to a silent Screen movie actress in the late 1920's, she committed suicide on her birthday in 1929. when talkies took over the Movie Industry.
Mr. Sterling also owned two other tourist attractions, one in Ausable Caverns, N.Y. and another in Plattsburg, N.Y.
Mr. Sterling was a very successful Mink Breeder, he developed the highly prized Sterling Sapphire strain which sold as high as $4000 per pelt at the Hudson Bay Fur Company in 1950
