The hall is located on Chestnut street, one of the principal thoroughfares of Philadelphia. In this hall on July 4th, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was adopted by Congress and read to the peoploe assembled on Independence Square. The Continental congress assembled here and Washington was here chosen Commander-in-Chief in 1775. The building is now used as a museum of relice connected with the history of this country
