Additional Details:
These two huge generating units, about 50,400 KW capacity, each driven by a 66,000 horse-power turbine, transform the power of falling water into electricity. Overhead is the massive traveling crane used in moving heavy pieces of equipment, midway at the right is the glass front of the control room. Norris Dam, on the Clinch River, completed in 1936, controls seasonal floods on the Tennessee and Mississippi Rivers and aids navigation in months of low flow |
