Built in 1833, this plantation and its buildings were built in the colonial period by a free woman of color. They are the only examples of African architecture on the North American Continent.

Description:
These old columns on the campus of the Louisiana State Normal College are the front of the Bullard Plantation Home built in 1832. In 1857 the home became a part of the Ursuline Convent. During the Civil War after the Battle of Mansfield, the old home was used as a hospital. Later, when the property was transferred to the state, it became the home of the matron, Mrs. Agnes Scott Donaho.

Built in 1856. The Catholic Church played a dominant role in the early settlement of Natchitoches. In restoration the old bricks have been preserved. A lovely old crystal and garnet chandelier hangs from the interior of the church



Trinity Episcopal Church

One of the oldest Protestant Churches in North Louisiana. Missionary work was begun in 1841 by Episcopalian ministers. The cornerstone of the present church was laid in 1857. The brick of the new additions has been magnificently matched to the old
