This massive fountain bears the legend " A gift from the Republic of Brazil to the City of Brazil, as a taken of friendship." Twenty-seven feet high and fifty-five feet wide, it is an exact replica of "The Fountain at the foot of St. Joseph Bridge" also called "Chafariz dos Contos." Started April 12, 1745 in the city of Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brazil, it was dedicated in 1760.
