Over 208 plants manufacturing tufted carpets, scatter rugs and bedspreads. 60 percent of worlds supply is made here. The tufting industry was originated nearly 80 years ago by Catherine Evens Whitener who made the first chenille bedspread.

Title: Prater's Mill Dalton (GA), Chrome unused Description: Prater's Mill, near Dalton, Georgia, was built of hand-hewn pine timbers in 1859 by Benjamin Franklin Prater. Three underwater turbines powered by the Coahulla Creek, turn the huge stones which grind corn and wheat.
