"No guilty man shall escape and no innocent man shall be punished". Federal Judge Isaac C. Parker, one of the greatest of American Federal Judges and known as The "Hanging Judge", held court here 1875-1889. The jail, known as "Hell on the Border", is located directly beneath the courtroom.

This building, a part of the second Forth Smith, was used s a commissary building and supply depot for the forts in the Indian Territory protecting the 5 Civilized Tribes. After it was no longer used by the arm it became the chambers of the famed Judge Isaac Parker during his term of office. It has been used since the early 1900's as a museum.

Description:
This gibbet was built to hang as many as twelve men at one time. Judge Isaac C. Parker, the "Hanging Judge" ruled over the Indian Territory, comprising some 74,000 square-miles, with and iron hand. During his terms of 21 years, 1875-1896, the court disposed of a total of 13,500 cases-of which 12,000 were criminal. 88men were hanged.
