Five hundred feet long the vertical height of the strikingly beautiful Cascades in 64 feet, divided into eleven falls. It is 60 feet wide while the walks are 8 feet wide with one hundred and forty-eight concrete steps on each side. There are three pools 30 x 90 feet and each pool contains two big automatic fountains.

Built in 1928, all cell blocks are on the outside. Inside the walls there are vocational opportunities and trade schools. Modern equipment and facilities are used toward the inmates rehabilitation. This is the world's largest walled prison and contains 57½ acres inside the walls.

Description:
This immense structure of reinforced concrete contains 1,100 cubic yards, exclusive of walks, balustrades and steps. To supply the falls and fountains, a pumping station is required equipped with one horizontal direct connected centrifugal pump with a capacity of 2,000 gallons a minute, and another with a capacity of 1,000 gallons a minute. The same water tumbling over the Cascades is repumped and used over and over again.
