Classic in style, the design is almost entirely Roman. Constructed of stone and marble, the Capitol was completed in 1932 at a cost of about $10,000,000.

This marker is inscribed as follows: Daniel Boone The West Virginia Poineer 1788-1799. 1769 Lt. Col. Of Kanawha Militia an organizer of Kanawha county. 1791 Delegate to virginia assembly his cabin was across the river from cave in clifff above. He hunted deer and made salt from a spring at the waters edge erected by Kanawha valley chapter daughters of American Revolution 1928. Daniel Boone The pioneer scout, Born Nov. 3, 1734. Founded boonesborough Kentucky 1774. settled in charleston and kanawha valley 1788. represented kanawha county in the Virginia assembly in 1791. Later embarked on the Kanawha with his family on flatboats and moved to missouri. Died at the home of his son Nathan in september 1820. The Missouri legislature adjourned and ordered twenty days of Mourning out of respect to his memory. A short distance east of Charleston. near the Daniel Boone marker is the historic Daniel Boone Cave. The great hunter, explorer and conqueror of the "Bloody Ground" of Kentucky was never so muc at home as when trading he pathless wilderness. Rifle in hand in quest of game or the pioneers mortal for the wily Indian. He was one of the five official scouts for fort clendenin located where Charleston now stands. In beautiful West Virginia, "The Switzerland of America," the attractive ten-story fireproof Daniel Boone Hotel was erected by the Citizenry of Charleston, W. Va., at a cost of over a miliion and a quarter dollers, in memory of Daniel Boone, famous Pioneer and Scout of nearly two hundred years ago; located but a short distance form the State Capitol; radio in every room; every room an outside room with private bath; rates moderate, a uniform high standard of quality and service. You will like the homelie atmosphere of the Daniel Boone.
