The mighty Continental Divide rears its snow-capped crest 11,660 feet above the sea where the line crosses it at Corona, sixty miles from Denver. Here thousands of tourists each year enjoy the wondrous climatic novelty of standing on banks of perpetual snow while the midsummer sun beats down upon the surrounding peaks. The Protestant Chapel, with seating for 900 cadets, is the largest of the three principal worship areas. Flanking each side of the nave are 38 pews of American walnut. Stained glass panels suffuse the area with multi-colored light. The cross suspended above and behind the altar is constructed of aluminium and is over 46 feet high. The excitingly beautiful Air force Academy Chapel is located just North of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

U. S. Air Force Academy, Colorado. The organ on the south wall of the Protestant Chapel is a brilliant instrument of contemporary design. The console is centered near the balcony rail. Behind and above, the pipes of the great division are on two levels in the foreground with pipes running from left to right. The positive division is on two levels in the right foreground with the pipes at 45 degree angles to the great division. There are 851 pipes in the pedal division, 1317 pipes in the great division, 1161 pipes in the swell division and 896 pipes in the positive division. Pipes range from pencil size to thirty-two feet.
