Serviced by the Indian hill and iron range railway system Will dump cars from 9'6" to 11'6" wide, 6'8" to 12' high and 35' to 57' long. This car dumper has dumped 321,717 railroad cars of open hearth slog (from steel), blast furnace slag (from iron) coal and iron ore. Turns a fully loaded car over in 35 seconds and returns it upright in 30 seconds. Each conveyor will load one ton per second of open hearth slag or iron ore into trucks and one-half ton of Blast Furnace slag or coal per second, because of their lighter weight and greater buik. The cars are dumped by a single 40 hip. electric motor and each conveyor has a 20 hip. electric motor. Electricity costs only 70 per car including dumping cars and loading trucks. December 31, 1965.
