Description:
Presidential aircraft #3240 is a VC-118A, the military version of the Douglas DC-6. It was used as Air Force One for short trips and to airports unable to handle larger jet aircraft. President John F. Kennedy made his first official flight aboard this aircraft on September 24th, 1961 to address the United Nations. President Lyndon Johnson used this airplane extensively in 1964 during his campaign for the Presidency in his own right. On loan to Pima air Museum, Air Force One is on permanent display.

This representation of the Holy Family, Mary, Joseph and the Christ Child, Sculptured by Felix A. Lucero, stands on the west bank of the Santa Cruz River at the Congress Street Bridge in Tucson. Lucero, a member of the 268th Infantry of the 1st Division in World War I, was trapped in a shell hole with 24 other members of his company while the Germans spread a blazing blanket of Hell over the field. There he vowed that if his life were spared he would devote the remainder of his energies to the glorification of Christ.
