Description:
the Navy Yard Brooklyn on the Brooklyn shore of the East River, just below the Brooklyn Bridge, is a natural circular basin, called Wallabout Bay, which holds upon its south shore the principal naval station of the United States. It contains 112 acres of ground, enclosed by a high brick wall, within which are all the material and facilities for naval construction. The U. S. cob dock lies in the bay and many ships of war are in evidence. Visiting hours are 10 a.m. To 4 p. m., but the rules for admitting visitors are strict.
