Pillsbury Hall was erected through the generosity of John S. Pillsbury, who was State Senator from 1864 to 1876, and governor from 1876 to 1882. By a special act of the Legislature in 1895, Mr. Pillsbury was made regent for life. The Machine and Forge Shop contains tools, gauges, stationary and portable forges and all equipments used in blacksmithing. The Shop for patternmaking and general wood-work contains benches with vises and tools, sawing machines, etc., and all hand tools used in carpentry and pattern-making.
