CARVEL HALL, fronting on Prince George Street, is a stately old structure, erected in 1763 by William Paca, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. During his term as Governor in 1782. this house was the center of many brilliant entertainments. Still retaining all the charm and daintiness which has characterized it since pre-revolutionary days, Carvel Hall is nora modern hotel of one hundred and fifty rooms, in the heart of Colonial Annapolis-a hundred yards from the Naval Academy and less than two squares from Maryland's historic State Capitol, which was the first Capitol of the United States. Make your stay memorable by stopping at the Mansion in which Winston Churchill wrote his famous novel "Richard Carvel".

Description:
Directly in front of Bancroft Hall at the end of Stribling Walk is Tecumsch - God of the 2.5. This aristocratic old chief was once the figurehead of the U. S. S. Delaware, but was given an honorable discharge to furnish out his service as guardian angel of the wooden men at the Naval Academy. The Class of '91 came to the rescue and had a bronze replica made. The bronze plate with the Naval Academy seal at the foot of the figure was made from the metal that was to have composed the torpedo tubes of the new "Washington".
