The Horseshoe Curve, 5 miles west of Altoona, is a noteworthy piece of railroad engineering on the Pennsylvania Railroad along the slopes of Allegrippus Gorge, near the summit of the Allegheny Mountains. Nearly 1,600 feet avove the sea, it presents many magnificent scenic visits to the traveler.
