Description:
Forest Park (open to automobiles at low speed) covers a wooded area of almost 800 acres. Tennis courts line both sides of the entrance way. There are nature trails baseball diamonds, bowling greens, a paddle pond botanical gardens, and plenty of picnic areas. A large Zoo open daily (10-7) contains a wide variety of animals in both out-door ranges and animal houses. Fossil footprints of dinosaurs quarried in the Connecticut Valley near Holyoke are on exhibit in an outdoor enclosure. At Trailside Museum are exhibits of flora and fauna. Small ponds along the roadway contain rare specimens of lotus and water lilies in full bloom in July. The rose gardens are famous for their beauty.

The magnificent building accommodates the meetings and activities of thirty-three Masonic Lodges. It is owned by the Springfield Masonic Hall Association. The cornerstone was laid in 1924. Its architecture were McClintock & Craig of this city. The cost was $1,500,000. It has four lodge rooms, and a Consistory Hall, which occupies the top floor. The Temple is fitted with lounge rooms, and with banquet halls for taking care of large or small gatherings. There are pipe organs in two of the lodge rooms, and a larger pipe organ in the Consistory Hall.

Description:
Springfield's Classic Municipal Buildings, erected at an expense of two million dollars, and dedicated December 8, 1913, are typical of the ?City of Progress.? They have made Springfield famous, and bring to Springfield every year the very best of music and entertainment which makes Springfield more and more a center of culture. The Administration Building for city offices is on the right. The Auditorium on the left has a seating capacity of 4,500 with ample room for exhibition purposes. These buildings are equal in size, having frontage of 115 feet on Court Street, and a depth of 175 feet, extending to Pynchon Street. Corinthian columns 41 feet high, height to apex of pediment 75 feet. Material, Indiana limestone. The Campanile, piercing the sky for 300 feet, is unique among the world's spires. Elevators convey visitors to the landings above the beautiful clock, where Picturesque Springfield and the incomparable Connecticut Valley can be seen at their best. The Municipal Chime of twelve bells cost $10,000, and ring out their sweet tones every quarter hour during the day, and hourly at night. A classic beauty by day, the tower is a beacon by night, its brilliantly lighted apex reminding all beholders that ?Springfield is on the map.?
