It is a pioneer among structures employing the self-supporting, vaulted type ceiling. Designed as an ellipsoid with a focal point at either end, it requires no interior post or pillars. It remains as built in 1888 (the sugar pine paneling retaining its original finish!) except for the greatly enlarged windows and the tapestry on the side walls. 1000 can be accommodated in the Crown Room
