Description:
You lift your soft brown eyes to see If your love finds response in me. A touch, a word, is all you seek, Your faith is strong, mankind's is weak. You are my friend in sun or rain, To share in pleasure or in pain. Should fortune cease to smile on me, If crust of bread my portion be, Our cabin floor like pals we'll share: Together, show we do not care. And when at last with measured tread, My friends pass by and flowers are spread A canopy 'neath the heaven's blue, I know you'll come, my friend so true, And sleep at night on bed of stone, So's not to leave me there alone.
