African Bush Elephant. Largest elephant on record, it weighed about 12 tons and stands 13 feet 2 inches at the shoulder. It was killed in 1955 by J.J. Fenykovi, of Madrid, Spain, who donated it to the Smithsonian. Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution.
