McGhee, Medicine Man McGhee, sub-chief Thundercloud, Brave Nighthawk, Princess morning star, with maidens silver moon and evening star. The Creek (Muscogee) Indians of Alabama live on a land grant given their ancestors by Gen. Andrew Jackson. Lynn McGhee, a part-Indian scout, saved Gen. Jackson's life at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in 1814, when Jackson took the land of the friendly Creeks who had fought with him against the "Red Sticks" or hostile Creeks. The land grant is to be theirs "as long as the grass growth and the water runneth". The Eastern Band of the Creek Indian nation has two colorful ceremonial dance groups.

Shown here are Princess Morning Star and Maiden Evening Star. They live on the land grant given their ancestors by Gen. Andrew Jackson at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in 1814. The Creek (Muscogee) Indians were generally designated as the Upper Creeks and the Lower Creeks. The misnomer, "Creek Confederacy" included the Yuchis, Tallassees, Talladegas, Tuskegees, Tukabatchees, Alabamas, Coosas, Natchez, Ozeailles, Savannahs, etc. (the Seminoles were originally Creeks). Some of the better known Creeks are: Chief Tuskaloosa, Alexander McGillivray, William McIntosh, Red Eagle, Big Warrior, Menawa, Little Warrior and Chief Talisi.
