Description:
The John Rains House is the oldest fired brick residence standing in San Bernardino County. Its bricks were made of local clay. Built in 1860-1861, its architecture is typical of the more prosperous rancho dwellings of that era. Wings of large rooms surround a central patio. The house also featured a unique sub-floor water cooling system. San Bernardino County Museum Association.
