Description:
The Ocotillo or Coach Whip Cactus is peculiar to the desert regions of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. During spring and early summer red blooms appear. The Cholla or "jumping cactus" shown beside it is so soft and fuzzy looking that it is often called the "Teddy Bear." The unwary stroller on the desert is due for a pained surprise, however, the moment he gets near it, for the bunches of sharp spines have a habit of dropping of or attaching themselves to any object that every so slightly touches it!
