Description:
This beautiful mid-city park was the first established in Savannah. It was named for Governor Johnson of South Carolina, a friend of the Georgia Colonists. Surrounding it during the years from 1733 when it was laid out were the Church, the House for Strangers, the Public MHI, Public Bake Oven and Public Store and Well. Nathanial Greene, the Revolutionary hero, and his son lie buried beneath the imposing monument erected in his honor.
