30 miles from Wallace, as it appears today and as it appeared in 1885. a roaring town of 5000 up & down the canyon. Discovery of gold started the rush in 1882. The County Seat moved from here to Wallace in 1899. The Coeur d'Alene mining region has now matured into a stable economy with farsighted owners, who develop new mines with part of current profits.
