Ruins of the Palace of Severus. These are part of the imperial residence on the Palatine Hill, which Augustus was the first to build, and which was added to by Emperor after Emperor. Septimus Severus extended the imperial abode beyond the limits of the hill, but of his erection there are only a few arches and broken walls left standing.
