The Birmingham Municipal Airport, a continental airport, is conveniently located 5 1/4 miles from downtown Birmingham, Alabama (10 minutes by automobile). The Federal Airways Air Traffic Report ranks the airport 46th in the nation and 4th in the Southeast in total activity. In 1964, regular commercial air traffic alone amounted to approximately 54 flights daily with over 500,000 passengers boarding and deplaning. The largest military and commercial jet aircraft flying today can easily operate from the newly completed runways. |
