This new courthouse cost $3,000,000. the county is named after Chief Tuscaloosa, the mighty Creek (Muscogee) Indian whose warriors fought Hernando De Sato at the Battle of Mauvilla (near the present town of Grove Hill, Ala.). This Battle is considered the bloodiest ever fought in America.
