Cutting Out The Calves. In the regular "round ups", the work of cutting out the calves takes place, when they are sorted out and marked or branded. The little animals run along by the mothers sides, he brand of the mother denoting the ownership of the calf. After it has been "Cut" from the herd, the calf is roped and thrown, and then the cowboys label it with the mark of its owner.
