Douglas - the county seat of Coffee county, is a thriving little city in the center of the Georgia bright leaf tobacco belt. The first tobacco barn built in Georgia was built in Coffee County, 2 miles south of the town of Nicholls. Douglas and Coffee County possess superior educational advantages. There are a number of graded high schools in the county and all rural schools are being consolidated and located with geographical precision for the convenience of the people. A branch of the University of Georgia, the South Georgia College, also the Georgia Normal Business College, is located at Douglas.
