James E. (Jimmy) Foxx Philadelphia (A. L.) 1936-42; Chicago (N. L.) 1942-44 Philadelphia (N. L.) 1949 Noted for his bathing, particularly as a home run hitter. Collected 534 home runs in 2,317 games. had a lifetime batting average of 325 and, in three world series compiled a mark of 344 appeared in seven all star games in which he batted 316 played first and third bases and also was a catcher. Erected to National Baseball Hall of Fame 1951 Baseball Writers Association of America.
