When William and Mary were crowned King and Queen of England, in 1680, Governor Nicholson fled from New York and Jacob Leisler assumed the reins of government in behalf of the people. Leisler was hanged as a traitor, but later the stigma was officially removed. 1909 Hudson Fulton Celebration
