The most unique scenic highway in the world has been built from El Tovar Hotel and Bright Angel Camp westward to the head of Hermit Trail, a new trail down the south wall of the Canyon now being built. The distance from El Tovar is about nine miles; the road is constructed of crushed stone, thoroughly oiled; with a cinder base, it has been likened to a boulevard in the wilderness.
