The Home was built as a summer home in 1795, ever 135 years ago, by John Rowan, Smith young lawyer of Louisville, Ky. The bricks came from England, were landed at newport News, Va., and brought to kentucky on sledges in winter along the Indian trails, drawn by oxen, driven by slaves.
