Description:
At the turn of the century, the Wood End Life Saving Station was one of thirteen government stations on the outer coast of Cape Cod that housed both men and life saving equipment. For well over 100 years, sea rescue work was the most important single activity on Cape Cod. Hundreds of lives were saved through the unselfish, often heroic efforts of Cape Cod lifesavers.
