Red River cart at Battleford Trail

Description:
The Swift Current Rotary Club placed an actual Red River cart at the beginning of the Battleford Trail to establish a Rotary Historical Site. At this point the old cart trail left Swift Current for Battleford 180 miles to the north. Freighters' cart trains, mounted police buckboards, and settlers' wagons screached, rattled, and bumped their way over the trail for more than seven years when progress brought the railway and the trail became a memory.
